Mark McKenna

Expert finishing with an eye for detail

Colourist, VFX Artist, VFX Supervisor, Flame Finishing Artist and Editor with over 30 years experience in broadcast and film.

Based in Adelaide, much of my work is done remotely fixing shots and doing those tricky bits that others can’t.

Sparkle is a nickname that stuck. It is quite apt for what I do with moving pictures.

Most recent work includes heading up post-production as Colourist, Online Editor, VFX artist and VFX supervisor for the ABC kids TV series Beep and Mort produced by Windmill Pictures.

Raison d’être – Attention to detail and seamlessness.

With the retouch and compositing detail I strive for you shouldn’t know much of the work I do happened.

Services

As well as working from my studio I can set up at yours with transportable kit.

Colour Grade

I have been Colour Grading throughout my carreer on a variety of systems. I run Da Vinci Resolve these days with a full Tangent grading surface. Most importantly (second to me) is the monitoring I’m using which is a regularly calibrated EIZO monitor. It’s the best you can get and you can have absolute confidence in the accuracy of the colour grade you are creating.

VFX / VFX supervision

I have been a Flame VFX Artist for many years. There are very few who have been doing this for longer. Flame is the original and still the most efficient stand alone VFX system you can buy.  VFX supervision is an important part of my services here too. I can guide you through that. Whether it is just pre shoot advice or my full involvement at shoot I ensure the elements we are creating will work.

Edit

I regularly edit TVCs and projects that need that little bit of extra polish. I usually offline on Premiere and then online with Da Vinci Resolve. This partnered with the ability to jump into Flame for VFX is very powerful and offers way more than most can. What is more I don’t charge extra to jump into those higher systems to add the extra polish. It is all part of the service!
